Sound Works shaped as a likely improver when she galloped stylishly at Matamata this morning in preparation for her Tauranga weekend assignment.
Working 20 metres out on a slow course proper, Sound Works (Rastrick) made the running at a steady rate for her companion Our Rose Royal (A Jones), cutting out 1000m in 1:10.5 and building momentum for a final 600m in 38.4.
Sound Works hit the line full of running and should strip at peak fitness at Tauranga, while Our Rose Royal did well to get up alongside her better performed workmate over the final stages.
On the plough Persuasive (S Weatherley) and Dragon Rio (Dowling) underlined their Tauranga prospects with as solid hitout over 1000m in 1:04 and 37.1. Lucky Feather (Cole) did similar work to return 1:04.8 and 37.6, while Heaven Forbid (W Hillis) did well to record 1:04.2 and 36.8.

The Arabian Duke (K McQuade) a runner in the amateur race at Te Aroha on Sunday, hit out boldly over 1200m in 1:21.6, 1:06.3 and 38.2, and The Talisman (J Brosnan) took 1:25.5, 1:09.5 and 40.8.
